The GUM Training Tool: A step-by-step guide to delivering a successful intergenerational physical activity programme
The value of staying active and the benefits it brings are well established, as the Generations Uniting through Movement (GUM) project has highlighted in its first published resources. And we are delighted to bring to life another useful resource from this project, the GUM training tool, designed by the EU-supported GUM project partnership.
This online learning journey is a customised roadmap for trainers, practitioners and organisations that are eager to boost their expertise in promoting movement and physical activity across different generations, particularly youth and seniors. Additionally, it offers guidance to unlock the potential of digital literacy training across generations to help boost participation. The training follows the structure of the GUM programme model created through the project, as an example of an intergenerational physical activity programme.
The training tool emphasises not just the theoretical aspects, but also explores the benefits of engaging in the GUM programme. It presents inspiring case studies from around the world and tackles a crucial issue today: ensuring the sustainability of initiatives like the GUM programme.
The training will now be used as part of the specific support provided by GUM partners to carry out pilots of the programme in five countries. But it is also available for anyone who is curious to dig in further and build their capacity to work with youth and seniors.
The online learning content is available in five languages (English, Slovenian, French, Spanish, and Bulgarian), enhancing accessibility and facilitating the spread of knowledge about intergenerational movement and physical activity programmes.
